Fun with Numbers

Recently compiled my stream fishing data for the first 6 months of this year (January 1st-June 30th). During which time, I caught smallmouth in every month. Included is my data in 2008 and 2007 for comparison.

I break the data down further for each stream, temps, and water levels, making note of water clarity and weather. That isn't being shared. Sorry.

2009 has been great for bigger smallmouth bass, the number of 18"+ smallmouth is way up. Numbers of fish seems down per hour. The numbers days are still ahead of us.

  1. Those are some amazing numbers, and a nice set of variables to collect too!
It will be fun to analyze across years as the longitudinal data compile. The big thing is to keep those "hours fishing" high, and all will be right with the world.

It's a good thing you throw them back, with those kinds of numbers Indiana wouldn't have any bass left.

  2. Jeff, at some point, I think I'll tire of it, or maybe seek another hobby out of sanity. But it's fun and fresh.

The slowest time of year for numbers of smallmouth has finally passed. The catch rate almost doubles from July-October.

The numbers you see for Ja-June are only about 35% of the yearly totals.
